what is
Music Therapy
Music therapy is an evidence-based practice in which a board-certified music therapist uses music, and the relationships formed in music, to help people to achieve optimized health experiences.
Music therapy is a deeply compassionate healing journey that provides individuals with a safe space to explore their lives. Adolescents collaborate with a skilled, licensed music therapist and embark on a profound reflective process.
The therapist guides the client in using the power of music and the connections formed through these experiences as powerful catalysts for personal growth and positive change.
For this project, each teenage had three music therapy sessions.
Dr. Viega led all music therapy sessions, and he helped the teens focus on their multiple identities as Asian/American.
